According to
experts, Apple has scaled back ambitious self-driving plans for its future
electric car, pushing its launch date forward by about
a year to 2026.
The car project, dubbed Titan within the company, has remained in limbo for the past few months as Apple executives have grappled with the reality that their vision of a fully autonomous vehicle,
with no steering wheel or pedals, is not
achievable with current technology.
In a major change to the project, the company is now planning a less
ambitious design that will include a steering wheel and pedals
and support only full autonomous capabilities on
highways.
